Who Received Grants in 2025?
Smart Remakers
Participants: Marat Dinmukhamet, Amirkhan Radikov, Rayana Rakhmidinova.
Mentor: NXplorers trainer Gulsanam Ismailova, Physics and Mathematics teacher at Shonzhy School-Lyceum No. 1 (Shonzhy village, Uyghur District, Almaty Region).
The team identified the problem of excessive paper, glass, and household waste accumulating at school and at home due to the lack of a recycling culture and separate waste collection systems.
These materials are often discarded or burned, even though they could serve as valuable resources for education, creativity, and developing environmental awareness among students.
The team continues to develop its project and uses waste materials to support other projects at their school.
ECOguardians
Participants: Daniyal Duisen, Yerasyl Agaidar, Beknur Akbergen.
Specialized IT Boarding Lyceum for Gifted Children, Taraz.
Mentor: Akmarzhan Yeskermesova.
Wastewater in the Zhambyl Region is currently contaminated with heavy metals and organic pollutants.
To address this issue, the ECOguardians team set out to improve environmental conditions by treating wastewater using membrane filtration technology.
The team developed a membrane based on activated carbon derived from cotton husks, an inexpensive and readily available raw material, and used it to remove heavy metals and organic pollutants from water.
Eco power Almaty
Participants: Amir Saidullaev, Ksenia Kirienko, Aiser Aueskhan.
Mentor: Nurlan Akperov, Mathematics teacher at Specialized Lyceum No. 165 in Almaty and NXplorers trainer.
The project is a mechanical energy recovery system that captures energy generated by footsteps and pressure on floor modules. Inside each panel, two gears — one large and one small — transmit motion to an alternating current generator equipped with reinforced magnets. When pressure is applied to the module, mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy.
For precise system control, piezoelectric elements are installed beneath the panel. They detect the applied load and send signals to an Arduino controller. The controller manages the relay and energy storage system, ensuring minimal losses and максимально efficient charging.
The collected energy is stored in supercapacitors or batteries and can be used to power lighting, sensors, or other low-power devices.
This modular system is suitable for installation in schools, shopping malls, sports halls, and any public spaces with high foot traffic, turning ordinary footsteps into a useful source of clean electricity.
The project offers a modern and environmentally friendly solution for generating clean energy in urban environments.
Lumora
Participants: Asima Assetkyzy, Malika Talgatbek, Darina Bolatbekova.
Mentor: Aruzhan Nurtleuova — Project Supervisor and NXplorers Trainer.
Jetisu Green Volt is an innovative project developed by the Lumora team from School-Lyceum No. 18 in Taldykorgan, aimed at generating environmentally friendly electricity.
The students developed a prototype generator that converts wind-induced vibrations into electrical energy without using rotating blades, ensuring safe and quiet operation.
The project also envisions integrating an AI-based control system to monitor the device's performance and weather conditions.
The initiative aims to advance alternative energy technologies, reduce dependence on conventional energy sources, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Nova
Participants: Zhandos Abilkhan, Ayaulym Turdali, Alina Kamilzhanova.
Secondary School No. 31, Zhainak Village, Ili District, Almaty Region.
Mentor: Azamat Kulbayev Bektilеuuly.
QozgaLight is a project that converts kinetic energy generated by people's movement in public spaces (school corridors, gyms, entrance areas, and staircases) into electrical energy for lighting and powering low-power electrical devices.

The electricity supplied through the inverter is used to power lighting systems, information displays, USB charging stations, and other low-power electrical devices.
Winning Projects from Previous Years
Each year, 5 finalist teams received grants of KZT 1,000,000 each to implement environmental projects at their schools. Starting in 2026, the grant amount has been increased to KZT 1,200,000 per team.
